Jon Roth

Jon Roth was born and raised in Rockland County, NY and began playing music at school and in church.

He began playing trombone at age 9, going on to study with local teacher Henry Heyzer and studio legend Moe Snyder. He attended Montclair State University, where he studied trombone and composing with Alan Ferber. While in school he performed with such varied artists as Ingrid Jensen, Ed Palermo, Don Braden and Dave Stryker. Soon after graduating he worked for Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines as a trombonist and arranger. Leaving Royal Caribbean, he began freelancing in the tri-state area, working with (among others), Larry Coryell, Bernie Williams, Wycliffe Gordon, John Colliani, Steve Johns, and Bill Ware. Jon also teaches at The Elisabeth Morrow School in Englewood, NJ and the Thurnauer School of Music in Teaneck, NJ.
